Understanding Usage-Based Billing
Usage-based billing is a flexible pricing option designed for users who have either very short sessions or a low-volume of sessions. Instead of paying a flat rate per session, your cost is based on how much time you actually use the system.
When Usage-Based Billing Makes Sense
This plan is ideal for:
Clinicians or professionals with short sessions - for example, nurses or technicians who record many brief (5β10 minute) notes throughout the day.
Users with low total note volume - if you only create a few notes per week or month, you may pay less than on a fixed monthly plan.
If you conduct mostly longer sessions, one of our other plans may be more cost-effective. Flat-rate plans count each note equally, regardless of its length, while usage-based billing scales with session time.
How Pricing Works
The cost of each session is proportional to its duration and can also vary slightly depending on the complexity of your note template.
Here's what that typically looks like:
A 1-hour session costs about $0.40
A 10-minute session costs about $0.08
For example, if you record 100β200 short sessions per month, your total monthly cost might be around $10β$15, which is less than the other plans.
Checking Your Estimated Cost
To help you decide if usage-based billing is right for you, the Note Page includes a cost indicator showing the estimated price of each note. You can view this estimate while you are on your free trial, or if you are subscribed to a paid plan.
Downgrading from 'Basic' or 'Standard' to 'Usage-Based'
If you're currently subscribed to the Basic or Standard plan and choose to switch to Usage-Based, the change will take effect at your next renewal date. Until then, your existing plan remains active. Any overage charges from your current billing cycle will be processed at renewal, after which your Usage-Based billing will begin.
Summary
Usage-based billing gives you control and flexibility; pay only for what you use. It's a great fit for professionals who log many short sessions or take notes infrequently.
